I have been crafting since I could think (yes really that small) but discovered rubber stamps aged around 21 - OK that is really about 23 years ago now - that is really really scary. I went with a sister to Edinburgh so she could sus out colleges and discovered some at the back of a gift store along with some embossing powder... I have to keep those awful stamps and embossing powder as a reminder of my starting point....
I didn't seriously start stamping till I moved to Peterborough which was about 1998 and it gave me access to London and what was about the only Stamp Show in the country at the time in London - the forerunner to Ally Pally as it is fondly known. This started a serious addiction and most of the inspiration came from American magazines like Somerset Studio and Stampers Sampler and Take 10. Now while my style is not cute I kept being drawn to cards and images from this company called Stampin' Up! The name stuck and as soon as I heard that they were coming over I was avidly waiting for the opportunity to join up. I sent the application in on the nose and was demo number 53. I have loved every minute. Initially I was very much a hobby demo as I was working full time, commuting to London and also Mum to an 15 mth old. But it has grown and grown and at the moment - between formal salaried posts - I am enjoying the freedom to do a bit more.
I love the camaraderie between demos - don't get me wrong there is competition - but in terms of sharing ideas, picking you up, pushing you on and generally having fun you would be hard pushed to meet a better bunch.
