Sample Time, Roses in Winter

Well I have had a gorgeous time playing with this stamp set and if I had had a choice I would not have bought it! I swapped it out in the starter kit and because I didn't want to lose any value I had to choose a set of the same price as the one I was swapping out. I have to say it is so versatile.

Images are all Copyright Stampin' Up! and Card Design is all my own.

Sample 1 uses:
Rose Red Cardstock for the card base
Always Artichoke for the layers/mats.
Whisper White for stamping onto
Cutie Pie patterned papers for the trim
Three brads in the Rose Red Colourway
and white grossgrain narrow ribbon

Stamps are all from the Roses in Winter set.

The technique used I call "Stamping Off" because this only uses two ink pads - Rose Red and Always Artichoke and the different depths of colour are achieved by using a piece of scrap paper to stamp off some of the ink - so the lightest red is the third stamp of an inked stamp, the second lightest the second stamp and so on. I have used the technique on all of these samples.

The second sample adds a different cardstock for the base card - Regal Rose - but uses the same ingredients and technique otherwise.

Sample 3 again the same ingredients and techniques with the addition of the Basic Black ink pad for the central image of the rose.

Sample 4 is slightly different. I used Rose Red Cardstock and Cutie Pie papers to create the central plaque. The Rose Red cardstock I stamped with the tiny flower from the set in Versamark to create a watermark effect. I then stamped the roses and punched them out with the Scallop punch. I only used two of the rose stamps and changed the ink to Regal Rose which is only slightly lighter than the Rose Red but a little more difficult to get the shading for the stamping off technique. The Greeting is in Barely Black and from Cheers and Wishes set which is really useful all purpose greeting set to have around. All of this was then mounted on the So Saffron Cardstock base which tied in nicely with the patterned paper colourway.

Hope you like this set - I will save another one for tomorrow to keep you interested :-)
